// A Bit About blubene

A dream come true...

It all started when I was 12. The peaceful feeling of serenity while being at our traditional family house in Mavrovouni was incomparable. Waking up to the sound of the chirping birds, listening to the waves from far away, knowing that the sea awaits, has always been a blessing. Moments like watching the full moon rise, deeply red and bright from the water, are the ones you never forget. When you live just 5 minutes away from the beach you just experience a different way of becoming one with nature, embracing the meaning of slow living.

"Blu Bene"

One of the first things you notice when you get to our home is a blue water well. Or, in Italian "Blu Bene". Back in the days when water was not as easily accessible, this well was a vital source for our family, providing water for the garden that flourished with vibrant flowers and fresh vegetables. Today, the well stands as a testament to our family’s history and the resourcefulness of past generations.

Every little corner of our house has its own history

Whether you notice the metal blade that is fixed right outside the entrance, which was used for people to wipe their shoes from mud, or the little stone wall that prevented horses from running away while rotating the capstan, while operating the well, it is all part of our family’s history.
